知念グスクの裏門を出て、石畳の坂を下っていくと、知念大川（ちねんうっかー）がある。ここは昔、知念グスクに付随する井泉（かー）であったといわれる。水源地は石灰岩の断崖の奥深くに位置。井泉の後ろにある「うふぁかる」には、琉球の創世神・アマミキヨが天から稲を持ち帰り、この地に初めて栽培したという伝説が残されている。向かって正面の一段高くなったところが、拝所である殿（とぅん）。玉城（たまぐすく）の受水・送水（うきんじゅはいんじゅ）とともに、稲作発祥の地として伝えられる。琉球国王は聞得大君を伴って巡礼され、現在でも沖縄全島から多くの参拝客が訪れるという。

Exiting from the back gate of Chinen Gusuku and going up the stone-paved hill, you will find the Chinen Uka. It is said to be the spring attached to Chinen Gusuku in ancient time. The water source is located far back of the limestone cliff. “Ufakaru” located behind the spring is the legendary site where Amamikiyo (God of Creation of the Ryukyus) brought back rice plants from the heaven and planted. You will see the “Tun” to offer the prayers located at the higher spot when facing the spring. Along with the Ukinju/Hainju in Tamagusuku, it is known to be the original place where rice farming started in Ryukyu. King of Ryukyu once made a pilgrimage to this spring with Kikoe-okimi . At this present time, many people still visit to this spring from all over the island of Okinawa.

走出知念城的后门，沿着石子路往下走就可见知念大川井了。古代，据说其井为知念城属。泉水起源于石灰岩断层的深处。琉球的创世神amamikiyo从天上带回的稻种，栽培在井泉的后面。所以此地流传是稻谷种植的发祥地。正对面的高处是参拜处。此水井即是玉城的受水•走水之处，也作为种植稻谷的发祥地而闻名。琉球国王曾经由闻得大君陪伴巡视过此地。现在仍有来自冲绳各地的参拜者拜访此地。
