It is the place where Amamikiyo developed and lived permanently. The site is known to be the place where ritual ceremony took place rather than at the castle itself. It’s considered a sacred place since ancient times.

Amamikiyo descended on Yaharazukasa and was staying at Hamagaa Utaki temporarily; however, moved on to the hills where she built this Minton Gusuku (castle) and lived permanently. It is said that she was based here and her descendents spread through Okinawa. Creation of Kudaka Island, beginning of rice farming, and the first import of pigs are ones of the legendary that related to the Minton Gusuku. In small caves or behind the rocks around the top of the castle, there are some Hiasho (sacred place of prayer). This revealed that the Gusuku has been the place of ancient ritual ceremony. Stone hatchet, shells, and particles of earthenware from the middle of the period of Okinawa Kaizuka(shell mound) have been excavated from this site. (The period covers from around 16,500 years ago through 12th century.) Although this site is one of the points of Agari-umai and designated as the historical site of Okinawan Cultural Heritage, it is now private land. Permission should be granted when you visit the site.
