ここには琉球三山統一を果たした尚思招（しょうししょう）、尚巴志（しょうはし）父子の居城跡がある。三山統一の過程で、大里グスクを攻め取り、佐敷グスクより居を移し、さらに、中山城（ちゅうざんぐすく）を攻め滅ぼして移った際に城郭の石は全部首理城に運んだと伝えられ、沖縄の他のグスクにみられるような石積みの城壁などはまだ発見されてない。聖地は鳥居を山手に入った眺めのいい位置にあり、遠く久高島も拝める。尚巴志の500年祭を機に、佐銘川大主・尚思招・尚巴志・尚忠・尚思達・尚金福・尚泰久・尚徳の8体を合祀したつきしろの宮が建立された。命名は、第一尚氏王統の守護神「つきしろ」に由来。台地上の先端部に築かれていることから、別名「上グスク」とも呼ばれている。

In the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Sho-Hashi, a Tsukishiro Shrine was constructed to enshrine Samegawa Ufunushi, Sho-Shisho, Sho-Hashi, Sho-Chu, Sho-Shitatsu, Sho-Kinfuku, Sho-Taikyu, and Sho-Toku. The name of the Shrine comes from the guardian god of the First Sho Dynasty, “Tsukishiro.” Since the castle was built at the tip of plateau, it is also known as “Ui-Gusuku.

此处为实现琉球三山统一的尚思绍和尚巴志父子俩的居城遗迹。在三山统一的过程中，
攻取了大里城后从佐敷移城。然后，又攻灭了中山城，把城廓的石头全部运至首里城。此城堡至今尚未发现冲绳别的城壁那样的石墙。圣地位于能眺望山景的高处，能远远地参拜久高岛。在纪念尚巴志500周年时，建造了合祭佐铭川大主，尚思绍，尚巴志，尚忠，尚思达，尚金福，尚泰久，尚德的8人的神宫。命名为第一尚王朝的守护神「月代宫」。又因此神宫建立于台地的上端，故别名为「上城」。
