琉球の精神文化の象徴であるといわれる琉球開びゃく七御嶽のひとつ。聞得大君の即位儀礼・御新下りが行われた、東御廻り最高の聖地。

It is said that this is the first Utaki made by Amamikiyo, the creator god of Ryukyu, for the creation of Ryukyu. The inauguration ceremony for Kikoe-Okimi, the supreme priestess of the Kingdom, took place at the site. Its holy name, is called “Kimigautaki, Nushiga utakino Ibi.” There are six ibi (the most sacred site in Utaki and holy place) within the Sefa-Utaki. Three Ibi, “Ufugui”, “Yuinchi”, and “Sangui”, were named after the places located at Shuri Castle. This signifies that the site was under the direct control of Royal Court and the strong tie of both. Since men were not allowed to enter the site in the past, men and regular people offered their prayers at the Ujoguchi (gate). In year of 2000, the site was designated World Heritage, and excavated articles have been designated as important national cultural assets. It is the most sacred of sites in Agari-umai that plays an extremely important role when addressing the history and culture of the Ryukyu Kingdom.

传说御岳是起源于琉球的创世神amamikiyo建国之际。琉球的最高神女闻得大君的即位仪式在此举行。御岳里有6个ibi(御岳中最重要之处)。其中，库理，寄慢，三库里与首里城内的设施同名。这里是由王府直接管理。以此可见其与王府的关系之深。此处曾经禁止男士出入，所以男士和一般的庶民只能在门口参拜。2000年，其被命名为世界遗产。御岳内出土的文物被指定为国家重要文化遗财。论起琉球王国的历史文化是离不开齐场御岳的。齐场御岳是东行巡拜的最高圣地。
